Spotsy EMS!

Well, guess the biggest news is that I'm nearly done w/ my EMT. Thank heavens! I'm very excited about it and have been running w/ the squad for 2 weeks now. I've been a geriatric nurse for a long time, and it is nice to have a change of pace. I do look forward to class being done and getting the State testing out of the way though. My time has been very limited and I haven't had a chance to do the other things I really want to do, like hang w/ the kids. But this is something I'm doing for ME. And I needed that too.

VARF

VARF will be starting soon. I've really put that on the back burner, but I am looking forward to that too. I miss Eliza. She really hasn't had a chance to come out and play since last spring. Although I'm half tempted to pull out her big sister Morrigan on occasion. *grin* But that probably won't happen.

The Kids

Well, Lanie is about a month away from getting her class ring. Boy, that makes me feel old. She is all excited. I think she really picked out a pretty one too. She really did a good job. She is doing okay in school and working hard at writing her book. She told me recently that she is almost done. VERY COOL!

Ian is in Army JROTC. He still plans to be an Air Force pilot. He is due a promotion in JROTC, which is very cool. Next year, they are planning to bring Air Force JROTC into his school, so he will be switching over. He has gotten much better lately. We have gotten into the habit of him coming into my room at night and we chit chat about whatever. Way cool considering he's a teen and I'm "just mom".

Aidan.. Wow. He is growing up just a little bit each day. He has taken to playing w/ my stethoscope and calling it the "doctor". He will put it on (correctly, mind you) and listen to my heart and my lung sounds. (Yup, he knows the difference, even if he isn't sure what to call them.) We had about 6 easter egg hunts in the front yard for Easter, and now he wants to do them every nice day. His newest favorite song is "Here Comes Peter Cottontail".. which replaced "Silent Night". (We had to sing "Silent Night" nightly at bedtime since about November... Guess we will sing about Peter Cottontail until fall.. hee hee)

Jim

I've found the new superhero for this millenium! "GOOFY MAN"! He's also an operative of the ICBP (International Cookie and Baking Police) and lives under the guise of a volunteer Firefighter for Stafford County Co. 2. He's a wonderful guy, and he amazingly fits right into my wierd, hectic, bizzare life. And he calls me "Mouse"... how groovie is that??!!?

My New Day Job

Well, I left the nursing home in early spring. I just could not deal with the politics and the aggida that place was full of. Too many bosses and not enough people willing to step up when things needed done. Too much delegation. And the State Survey (hate those annual stress inducers!!!) was due. Good time to look for a new horizon.

So, I found a job at Intrepid USA Home Health. It's totally NOT clinical nursing. In fact, I don't wear scrubs and don't touch patients unless I REALLY want to. I am basically in charge of the office, including all the MD contact and all that stuff.. I LOVE it. It is a regular schedule. NO weekends. NO holidays. *happy dance*
